Follow the Hunger Games in North Carolina

Even thought the next installment of the Hunger Games is not being filmed in Western North Carolina the excitement hasn't faded. On your next trip you can trace the steps of the Hunger Games with this itinerary provided by the NC Tourism Deptartment. From Charlotte to Asheville, a stay at High Rock Rentals puts you right in the middle of all the Hunger Games filming spots.

Asheville & Black Mountain Restaurants Serve Local Grown Farm-to-Table Meals

Although each of the vacation rental cabins at High Rock Rentals is equipped with a full kitchen, you may want to enjoy some of the outstanding restaurants in western North Carolina. The city of Asheville is a wonderful find for the Foodie. And you'll be delighted with the restaurants that participate in the farm-to-table movement, Asheville allows diners who want their food as fresh from the farm to savor in a wide variety of dining choices for every taste and budget.

Here's some of our favorite farm-to-table restaurants:

  • Early Girl Eatery (a personal fave)

  • Tupelo Honey Cafe (a personal fave)
  • The Moose Cafe (a personal fave)
  • My Father's Pizza & Pasta (a personal fave)
  • Corner Kitchen (a personal fave)

    Fall Colors in North Carolina

    colorful leaves in creek

All around High Rock Rentals the colors are spreading with reds, golds, oranges and a rainbow of greens. October is one of my favorite months to be in the Asheville area. A Sunday drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, fall festivals, pulling out the sweaters, corn mazes, fall baseball - not to mention - Great weather for a bonfire and beer!

    Summer Ferns

Summer Ferns found all around the creek at High Rock Rentals.
Take a stroll to the creek and maybe you'll see a fairy flying among the lush green ferns. They fill the gulleys during the summer we'll hate to see them go when fall arrives.

Enjoying Spring Break at High Rock Haven

This week we spent our spring break at High Rock Haven and just hung out with the kids enjoying what WNC has to offer. For the first time we went on a zipline canopy adventure and all agreed that we just added this to our Top Ten Things To Do List when visting High Rock Rentals.

We took a bunch of photos and video of our daytrip to Navitat. It was just a 40 minute drive to Barnardsville, just north of Asheville. It was awsome! And for those of you who know Mike you know he has a pretty bad fear of heights - well he was a bit nervous but made it over the 220ft gorge tethered to the cables by our super guides Leslie and Matt. Jake was a natural and my stomach flipped as he zipped out of sight far into the canopy. But we can't wait to do it again. See for yourself - below is a link to the video and pictures we took, it's a bit long 12 minutes, but I loved it all can couldn't cut it...
